Southwest Indiana COAD is a collaborative network uniting nonprofits, businesses, faith-based groups, and emergency officials to strengthen disaster response and recovery in Gibson, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick Counties. We enhance communication, coordination, and cooperation to build community resilience during crises.
The COAD's primary goal is to ensure the availability of needed services and encourage uniform, impartial provision of these services during disasters. We achieve this through:
Facilitating communication among member organizations
Promoting cooperation between various entities
Coordinating disaster response efforts
Establishing convening mechanisms
Providing education and outreach
The COAD welcomes community organizations and businesses from the five-county area. Our diverse membership includes:
Voluntary agencies
Community groups
Faith-based organizations
Private and public organizations
Local businesses active in disaster services
Each member organization maintains its own identity and independence while collaborating with others during emergencies. There is no cost (other than your time) to participate in the Southwest Indiana COAD.
Emergency officials are invited to participate in the COAD in an advisory capacity.
Regular COAD Membership Meetings occur quarterly on Zoom where we discuss updates and share information. During emergencies, the COAD may convene some or all of its members to facilitate communication, coordination and collaboration.
The COAD is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of 7-15 members, including five officers:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Membership
Treasurer
The Board also includes an Advisory Committee comprising Emergency Management Agency Directors from each county.
Join us in our mission to support our communities during times of crisis. By becoming a member of the Southwest Indiana COAD, your organization can play a crucial role in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts in Southwest Indiana.
Together, we can build a more resilient community and ensure that those affected by disasters receive the support they need.
